A tale of Two Rivieras - Un peu de Provence à Santa Barbara

Where the sawing machine meets the computer!

Originally from Provence, on the French Riviera, Sylvie Doherty moved to Santa Barbara, on the American Riviera, five years ago. "I was missing a certain Flavor of France and so I brought it over and made a business of it."

While Sylvie manages the creative part, Vince handles the technical aspects of their business and designed the all important website: www.flavoroffrance.com. From the fabrics and supplies they bring over from France, Sylvie creates the colorful placemats and "bag for bags" she couldn't find here. To further merge their dual identities, Sylvie and Vince got maried twice. The civil ceremony took place at the Santa Barbara Court House, and the religious one in Grenoble, France, with her family.

The Art of Doll making
Elisabeth Puetz, creates handmade dolls in her home in Santa Barbara. She learned her craft in adult classes in Germany. Her soft dolls have heads made of plaster of Paris. ..."It takes longer to make the face and then it has to dry for two days. I paint each one by hand and they come out slightly different each time"... says Elisabeth.

Elisabeth also makes doll's clothes, especially for the "American Girl Doll". The details and finish on the clothes are impeccable The dolls range in price from $90 to $150.
