The Miramar Hotel a favorite landmark for many of us, closed on September 10, 2000
Artist Ruth Ellen Hoag has recorded some of its last vistas.

September 10, 2000, the century old Miramar closed its doors. It will open again under the direction of new owner, Ian Schrager (cf The Mondrian in L.A.) in about 18 months. Many of us miss its peace and quiet, its in-the-sand location, its reasonable prices and quaint athmosphere. Schrager bought it for a reported $31 million and will spend as much again to transform it into yet another Palace.
